Her Royal Princess Chulabhorn on Wednesday donated 500,000 baht to fund the search and rescue operations at Tham Luang-Khun Nam Nang Non in Chiang Rai’s Mae Sai district which are entering the fifth day today since last Saturday.
The cash donation was received by Mr Supachai Iamsuwan, deputy permanent secretary for interior, at the Chulabhorn Cancer Centre of Chulabhorn hospital and will be presented to Chai Rai governor Narongsak Osotthanakorn to be spent on buying medicines, food and other necessities.
The Princess also gave morale support to all officials involved in the search and rescue operations and wished them safe and success in helping the 12 footballers and a coach who have gone missing since they ventured into the cave last Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Mental Health Department has instructed the mental health centre at Suan Prung hospital in Chiang Mai to send a team of mental health experts to Mae Sai district to take care of the mental health of the families and relatives of the 13 missing.
He noted that family members of the 13 are now in a state of worrying due to their concern for their safety. He urged the members to take care of and to console one another.
Suan Prung hospital director, Dr Thoranin Kongsuk, said family members are hopeful that they will see their children again, adding that all of them are now being taken care of by team from the hospital.
He further said that mental health care is needed if and when the 13 are helped out of the trapped cave.
