In the BBC’s latest captivating drama, a woman travels on holiday with a group of family and friends with the intention of rediscovering joy. However, what starts as an illicit smooch quickly seems set to destroy the dream vacation, as Zoe (played by Jessica Raine) begins to act on her deepest desires, turning the escape into a nightmare.
As the group realise they’re trapped on the Greek island, they’re faced with life-or-death situations and soon turn on each other as they work out who’s to blame. Is Zoe responsible for the drama, or are bigger forces at play? They’re in the land of the ancient Gods, after all.
In addition to Jessica Raine, the stellar cast includes Nicholas Pinnock, Antonia Thomas, Leila Farzad and Hugh Skinner.
Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, says: “There is no better cast to bring Catherine [Shepherd’s] Two Weeks in August to life. You might not want to find yourselves on holiday with this group of characters, but watching their reunion unfold across eight sun-soaked episodes will be irresistible.”
However, while the action is set across the paradisiacal scenes of a Greek island, all is not as it seems. Production actually took place across Malta and Gozo, with sweeping sea views playing the part of Aegean scenes.
