It’s official: the 2026 American equivalent of a ‘royal wedding’ – aka pop mega-star Taylor Swift‘s highly publicised yet highly secretive wedding to NFL athlete Travis Kelce – has happened. While many of the details of the 3 July nuptials came as no shock (the pair got married in New York, where Swift has lived for more than a decade, in a locked-down ceremony that no journalist, paparazzi or curious fan could lay eyes or camera on; the guest list included more A-List celebrities than the Grammy’s and the Oscars combined from Paul McCartney to Hugh Grant to Selena Gomez), some of the couple’s choices were, perhaps, a little surprising. The wedding itself was a two-day affair in Madison Square Garden: a windowless stadium better known as the sticky-floored venue for basketball games than romance, although if anyone can transform the venue beyond recognition, surely it’s a billionaire with the creative vision to pull off the Eras Tour. Adam Sandler officiated. The bride, apparently, walked down the aisle to one of her own songs and then rapped on stage during the reception.
So with the wedding over, all eyes turn to the honeymoon. Will the newlyweds surprise the world yet again with their choice? Or will they stick to a tried-and-true destination, beloved by honeymooners for decades? Obviously, we won’t know until they decide to tell us – but we asked our expert travel editors to weigh in with their best advice on where to book regardless.
Lake Como, Italy

It doesn’t matter if you’re a billionaire celebrity power couple or an ordinary spouse-to-be – the romance and allure of the Italian lakes is everlasting. Something Taylor and Travis know All Too Well, as they cleverly chose Lake Como for a getaway last year. Why not return, then, for the most romantic holiday of all – their honeymoon? I’d recommend booking one of the private villas at Grand Hotel Tremezzo, a film-set-like, Grand Budapest Hotel-style property with staggering views across the water.
South Africa

When I picture Taylor and Travis on a honeymoon, I imagine them all giddy with excitement and desperate for some time alone, away from crowds and snapping photographers. But, having said that, I can’t see either of them as the type of people who can sit still for long. A holiday that feels far removed from reality but has plenty of activities and things to do is my bet – and I think Travis’ golden retriever energy and Taylor’s wide-eyed wonder of the world lend themselves nicely to a safari honeymoon. South Africa provides plenty of options to choose from – a classic safari destination with renowned private conservation areas and game reserves. The Farmstead at Royal Malewane (owned by the Biden family, no less, who Taylor famously endorsed back in 2020) should do the trick, with private, secluded villas, vast sweeping views across the 30,000 acres of Thornybush Game Reserveplains and plenty of romantic corners to watch the sunset and catch a glimpse of a lion or two (we will, of course, be waiting with bated breath in the hope that Travis gifts us with a post-Big Five sighting quote as iconic as his “I just gave a squirle a peice of bread” Tweet).
