On Location peels back the curtain on some of your favourite films, television shows, and more. This time, we ask: where was Pressure filmed?

On 6 June 1944, the largest seaborne invasion in history took place on the shores of Normandy, France. After years of global conflict, the Normandy Landings – now known as D-Day – paved the way for the Allied victory on the western front.

But the build-up to the operation was nothing short of monumental. Behind the scenes of the deployment of more than 150,000 troops was an intricate web of logistics. Despite meticulous planning, the landings largely depended on the weather – if a storm had rolled in, the results could have been very different.

This is where Scottish meteorologist James Stagg (played by Andrew Scott) comes in. With millions of lives at stake, General Dwight D. Eisenhower enlists Stagg to set a timeline for the landings. In doing so, Stagg faces opposition from fellow meteorologist Irving P. Krick and Eisenhower, putting him under immense pressure to deliver an accurate forecast that supports the war effort.

This is the tale playing out on the big screen right now, as a stellar cast enacts a crucial but forgotten wartime story that ultimately saved countless lives. But filming a war epic isn’t plain sailing. Here, we take a look at the locations across England used to bring the story to life.

Rand Bros Farm

Founded in the 1930s by a trio of brothers, Rand Bros Farm, on the edge of Royston, was transformed into the London-to-Portsmouth route seen in the movie’s early scenes.
