Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith yesterday ordered the Expressway Authority of Thailand to put off the planned collection of toll fees planned for July 1 on the southern section of the Outer Ring Road motorway from Phra Pradaeng to Bang Bang Khe until it does more public relations of the collection.

Mr Arkhom said he has advised the planned collection to be postponed for 30 days so that motorists will be fully aware of the collection as now many do not know about it.

Toll rates are 15 baht for four-wheeled vehicles, 25 baht for six-wheeled trucks, and 35 baht for trucks with seven wheels for this section of the Outer Ring Road, also known as Motorway 9.

Earlier the deputy permanent secretary for transport, Peraphon Thawornsupacharoen, said that enforcement of the toll fee has to be formally announced and publicised to motorists so that they may make necessary adjustments.
