‘I remember when I was little my mum used to take me to the Royal Baths Park, the largest park in Warsaw, in the middle of the city centre, every weekend to feed the squirrels and peacocks. It was a tradition and I would collect seeds, hazelnuts and veggie leftovers; I also wrote letters to the tree spirits and brought sweets for the stone statues scattered across the grass. When I went back to Warsaw to photograph the city for Condé Nast Traveller with my partner Matias Alexandro, who always films with me, we visited the park to say hello to the squirrels. I simply love how playful and clever they are. The ones here are not shy. They come straight up to you, they jump on you, they stretch their little paws to grab a treat and some of them even let you touch their fluffy, bushy tails.’
