While an ice rink in the heart of London’s financial district may, at first, sound like an odd sell, Canary Wharf’s ice rink has made a name for itself over the years as one of the capital’s most enchanting. Skate in the shadow of London’s towering skyscrapers on a late winter’s afternoon and watch the sunset cast orange shades against the buildings before they descend into a twinkle of lights beyond those right above – as the rink’s transparent roof, illuminated with thousands of enchanting fairy lights, makes a return. Head down for a chilled session or turn up the ante at a special event as DJs and live musicians get in on the action. There are also dedicated wheelchair skate evenings, making it a fabulously accessible experience. With hundreds of bars and restaurants within a stone’s throw of the rink, there’s no excuse not to make a night of it.
