While Oman has a number of established five-star hotels, with more surely set to follow as the country becomes ever more popular with tourists, the recent arrival of St Regis Al Mouj Muscat Resort marked luxury on a larger scale. Designed to evoke the elegance of a cruise ship, St Regis Al Mouj Muscat Resort has 250 guest rooms and suites, all with private balconies, and one-, two- and three-bedroom duplexes, featuring kitchens and private plunge pools. Rooms are spacious: the standard deluxe measures 60 square-metres, enough space for a comfy corner settee, dressing table and capacious bathroom.
The hotel features a catwalk of destination dining, with the likes of Hakkasan, Em Sherif, Roberto’s and Coya bringing modern Cantonese, Lebanese fine dining, seafood-accented Italian and Latin American flavours respectively to a series of poolside restaurants due to open by September. Oman’s first Guerlain Spa is set to open by the end of this year, promising 11 treatment rooms including couple suites, steam rooms and saunas, as well as a wellness menu featuring the historic French brand’s well-regarded signature treatments, alongside specially designed Omani takes using oud, frankincense and rosewood.
