Officials at several ministries wore purple T-shirts today, in a spontaneous display of moral support for HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, following a recent incident on a Bangkok expressway in which two members of the anti-monarchy Taluwang group sounded a car horn at and tried to pursue the Princess’s motorcade.

At the Mangkorn Kamalawat Chinese temple in Chinatown, Palang Pracharath party leader General Prawit Wongsuwan led party executives and MPs, including Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Patcharawat Wongsuwan, to join Thais of Chinese descent in paying respect to the deities there and to offer moral support to Princess Sirindhorn.

Officials at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, led by Minister Patcharawat, attended a ceremony to express their good wishes to the Princess.

A similar ritual was also held at the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security.

Reacting to the spontaneous show of support for the Princess by government officials, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said that the Princess has worked very hard for the people and that it is the duty of security officials to ensure the safety of the Princess.
