LGBT students staged a protest march in Bangkok today (Wednesday) to demand equality, regarding the right to wear clothes and hairstyles in accordance with the gender with which they identify, and to demand an end to gender discrimination.

The demonstrators, who call themselves “Bad Students”, marched from Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall, on Rajdamnoen Avenue, to the Ministry of Education, where they submitted a petition to Education Minister Nuttapol Teepsuwan.

Education Permanent Secretary, Mr. Prasert Boonruang, received the petition and told the demonstrators that, in order to meet their demands, regulations would have to be amended and, for that matter, the Education Ministry would have to hold discussions with several other concerned agencies.

He also told the protesters that he could not say when there will be a response to their demands.
