Thai Airways International Plc has cancelled flights TG 431 (Bangkok-Denpasar) and TG 432 (Denpasar-Bangkok) starting from Friday (June 29) for safety reasons after Mount Agung volcano erupted on Thursday.
THAI on Friday morning posted on Twitter a message which read: “Due to the eruption of Mt. Agung on Bali Island, flights TG431 & TG432 to and from Denpasar are cancelled starting from today for safety reasons. For the latest updates, please check http://thaiairways.com or call THAI Contact Center, +662-356-1111.”
The Jakarta Post reported that volcanic eruption forced Bali to declare a closure of Ngurah Rai international airport on the Indonesian resort island. The eruption sent thick smoke and ash billowing 2,000 meters (6,500 feet) into the air.
The airport was due to be closed from 3am (1900 GMT) to at least 7pm on Friday after a pilot report detected volcanic ash as high as 23,000 feet. However, the closure may be extended beyond 7pm following a review.
