Which train gives you a spring in your step?
‘The one from Paddington that takes you all the way to Totnes, Devon – well, there’s usually a changeover but that’s the time to stretch your limbs. I love that journey through the fields and round the shoreline.’
Your favourite place in the world?
‘A secret nudist beach in Devon called Buttock Cove. That’s where my heart is… and my butt.’
The film whose location blew you away?
‘Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. The opening helicopter shots of the mountains, the lake and the drive leading up to the hotel are so incredible – they were shot on a road in Glacier National Park, Montana. The place itself, the Overlook Hotel, is one I’ve always wanted to visit – the exteriors were shot at the Timberline Lodge in Mount Hood, Oregon, but the interiors were actually at a studio in Hertfordshire, England!’
A place you fell in love?
‘I was 18 – it was the summer we finished high school and so my friends and I went Interrailing around Europe to celebrate. I met someone in a hostel that sadly no longer exists – it was called Hi 5 Hostel – in Budapest. It was a lovely summer romance…’
