Help for an Often Overlooked Need
One critical need that is frequently overlooked during community support efforts is feminine hygiene products. While clothing and food donations are common, feminine care supplies remain among the least donated items—despite being essential.
Project Marilyn, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is dedicated to ensuring that women and school-aged adolescents have access to the period supplies they need. The organization assembles and distributes monthly period kits throughout Nevada, partnering with libraries statewide to ensure confidential and easy access.
Anyone in need can simply visit a participating library’s help desk and say, “Marilyn has a package for me,” or “I’m here to pick up a package from Marilyn.” They will be discreetly provided with a kit containing enough supplies for one menstrual cycle. Individuals may return each month for as long as they are in need. This program has been a lifeline for countless women and adolescents across the state.
