On Location peels back the curtain on some of your favourite films, television shows, and more. This time, we take a look at The Odyssey.
Christopher Nolan has cemented himself as one of the biggest directors in Hollywood, creating iconic films like Oppenheimer, Interstellar and Inception. His films always attract attention and hype, and for good reason. And his latest film, The Odyssey, is no different. If anything, with its all-star cast and well-known source material, the upcoming movie promises to be one of the biggest films of 2026.
Adapted from Homer’s ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey, the film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, and charts his long and arduous journey home after the Trojan War, as he attempts to see his wife and son again. The cast also includes Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron.
The Odyssey is one of the most influential works of Western literature and is one of the few surviving sources of information about the legendary Trojan War. It’s a story that’s been adapted for film and TV before this, but with a huge Hollywood budget and an IMAX production, Nolan’s adaptation might be the biggest yet.
