Dyson just released a travel version of its iconic Supersonic hairdryer

It’s hit and miss whether you’ll have a good hair dryer in the hotel room while on holiday, which isn’t good news if you’re in a hot or humid climate and you’re taking lots of pictures. Fortunately, Dyson has saved the day, releasing a travel version of its cult Supersonic hairdryer. Retailing at £249.99, it’s £80 cheaper than the brand’s signature model while retaining all the same clever tech we know and love from Dyson.

Dyson Supersonic travel hair dryer

In addition to the brand’s signature powerful airflow that dries hair as speedily as possible, and optimised temperatures to avoid frying your locks, it has a number of clever features specially designed for travel. Firstly, it weighs less than a can of Coke, so there’s no need to worry about your case’s weight limit, and given that it’s a third smaller than the size of your regular hair dryer, it will slip happily into your smallest carry-on without issue. The best feature however, is the global voltage compatibility, which adapts to the voltage requirements of whichever country you’re in automatically, so you can use it anywhere in the world without risk.

We also like that it’s compatible with all of the existing Supersonic attachments, so you don’t have to forgo them on holiday or purchase additional and potentially costly attachments – and it comes in a pretty powder pink colourway.

Our editors are big fans of Dyson’s hair range, and especially so for travel days. Its Corralle straighteners are completely wireless, which helps you skip issues with voltage requirements (and trailing wires) entirely. I personally have been using its AirWrap styler daily for years, both at home and abroad. While it’s not as small as this travel model, the long thin shape of the styler means that it slips neatly into a final teeny pocket of space in a weekender far more easily than a regular-shaped hair dryer and it delivers foolproof results every time (my favourite is the frizz-banishing brush attachment). I’m always happy to unpack it when I arrive to my destination.
