The amount of cash donations made through government’s bank account for victims of the dam disaster in Attapeu and Champassak provinces of southern Laos has surpassed 32 million baht, Prime Minister’s Office deputy permanent secretary Sompas Nilphan said on Monday (July 30).

He said that after the government opened its Krungthai Bank savings account No 067-0-12886-4 for the people to make donations for the dam victims, as of 10am on Monday, the total amount was over 32 million baht.

Apart from cash donations, the people can also donate relief materials such as clothes, dried food and other necessities at Government House everyday during 8.30am-4pm. The dried foods should not have expired and the clothes should be still in a good condition, Mr Sompas said.

Mr Sompas said the government will continue to take donations for an indefinite period as the victims still need more relief supplies.
