BTS skytrain service has returned to normal without any service disruption since Thursday morning until late afternoon after BTS Group Holding, the operator of the train service, has changed its radio frequency which disrupted train signalling system.

The company issued a statement via BTS skytrain tweets almost every hour announcing its normal service on Silom and Sukhumvit lines.

BTS Group Holding managing director Surapong Laoha-anya said Thursday that there has been no disruption of BTS signalling system after TOT switched off transmission of its radio frequency along train routes covering ten stations in between.

On Friday, he said BTS would install Moxa signal screening equipment and switch its radio frequency from 2400 MHz to 2500 MHz as recommended by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission which will help reduce frequency interruptions.

He further said BTS would hold a meeting with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and BTSGIF, a mass transit infrastructure fund, to discuss compensation to commuters affected by train disruptions during June 25-27.

TOT deputy managing director for wireless communication business Mr Rangsan Channarukul said the company’s technicians were checking whether the CCTV system installed along the train routes has disrupted BTS signalling system or not.

However, he maintained that wi-fi and mobile phone signals do not interfere with 2400 MHz radio frequency.
