Mo Vintage Athens and L’On
Having worked as managing director of Athens fashion label Yiorgos Eleftheriades, Yiorgos Mo (known as Mo) turned a passion for collecting into Mo Vintage Athens. His tiny mustard-yellow shop in Koukaki stocks designer womenswear and accessories from the 1970s to the 1990s. YSL is a specialism, as are Japanese designers, but brands stocked also include Thierry Mugler and Giorgio Armani. Mo has a private network of buyers and sellers, as well as laser-sharp knowledge of which collection a garment originates from. L’On (in the same building as Neso Studio) focuses on deadstock designer womenswear and menswear from the 1990s: Armani bodysuits, DKNY denim jackets, Ralph Lauren shirts, plus pieces from lesser-known Greek labels.

Record Store by Birdman and Ikigai Japanese Market
At one end of Skoufou street is Birdman Japanese bar and grill; at the other lies its sister restaurant Ekiben Kitchen, known for its noodles, sandos and fried chicken karaage. A few doors down from there is Record Store by Birdman, which has floor-to-ceiling vinyl spanning Japanese jazz to Nigerian funk, displayed in wooden cubbyholes, Klipsch speakers and a handmade mixer from Switzerland. A spiral staircase leads down to Ikigai Japanese Market, a subterranean shop selling kitchenware, tableware and sauces.

The Naxos Apothecary
Founded by the Korres brothers, Giorgos and Apostolis, The Naxos Apothecary creates scents, tinctures, creams and remedies inspired by the island, in labs dedicated to homoeopathy, herbal cosmetics and phytotherapy. With weighing scales and scientific vessels on display, candles under cloches and staff wearing navy lab coats, it has an old-school pharmacy vibe. Upstairs is a herbal tea bar and an outpost of Ancient Greek Sandals.
