The Meteorological Department on Monday (Mar 19) reissued a warning of summer storms that is expected to hit the country’s upper region from tomorrow until Friday. Bangkok will also be affected by summer storms from Wednesday.
In the fourth announcement, it said thunderstorms will come with gusty winds, hails in some areas and lightning strikes.
It said the country’s northeastern region will be hit first by summer storms from tomorrow, and followed by the eastern region the next day.
Bangkok and its surrounding provinces, the central and northern regions are expected to be hit by the storms, starting Wednesday.
During the storms that come with rains, gusty winds and lightnings, it advised people to keep off outdoor activities, or taking shelters under big trees and billboards.
For farmers, they were warned to prepare for damages that could be caused by the storms to their crops.
The Meteorological Department said the expected summer storms are expected from another round of high pressure system that is moving down from China and is blanketing the country’s northeastern and eastern regions first.
Affected provinces are as follow:
March 20-21:
Northeast: Loei, Nongbua Lamphu, Nong Khai, Udon Thani, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Maha Sarakham, Kalasin, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnart Charoen and Ubon Ratchathani.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao and Chon Buri
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya including Bangkok and its vicinity.
March 22-23:
Northeast: Loei, Nongbua Lamphu, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani.
North: Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Sukhothai, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, Kamphaengphet, Phichit and Phetchabun
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Suphang Buri, Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi including Bangkok and its vicinity.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.
