A local hunter was arrested after he and his colleague were found poaching of wild animals in Kuiburi national park in Prachuab Khiri Khan province on Sunday(Mar 18).
Park officials said Somjit Bunkong, 52, was caught near a scene north of Ban Klong Bung reservoir in the national park with a slaughtered Asiatic black bear and Indian small civet.
A shotgun with six cartridges, two head flashights, and a hammock were seized from his campsite.
His colleague managed to escape as park officials arrived to arrest the poachers.
Somjit admitted to poaching of wildlife animal for own consumption.
However park officials suspected him of involvement with wildlife trade.
He was escorted to the local police station for detention.
