5 best hotels in Malaysia 2026 for the ultimate jungle, beach and city adventure

Mangrove forests, winding rivers, and sea stacks that rise dramatically from the ocean – the 99-island archipelago of Langkawi is rich with natural wonders, and the Four Seasons property is designed to provide the best vantage point from which to experience it. With a mile-long sandy beach adjoining almost 10,000 acres of dense, protected mangroves, and in close proximity to pristine outlying Andaman Sea islands, this resort is the ideal setting for travellers to unwind and deepen their connection with the archipelago, a formally designated UNESCO Global Geopark, all while cosseted in the Four Seasons brand of luxury, of course.

There are 68 Pavilion rooms scattered around the property and come with beautiful interiors (dark woods, rich silks, and hammam-style terrazzo bathtubs) and garden or partial sea views. Villas here are light and airy, with a layout that mimics that of a home, designed to offer areas for “we” time and spaces for privacy – an ideal choice for families with children or even two couples travelling together. Speaking of, families with children have plenty to get busy with, from rock climbing to archery and kite flying, as well as eco tours led by naturalists who begin with discovery sessions at the incredible Geo Park Discovery Centre built on-site. For grown ups, the spa is one of the prettiest I’ve encountered, with walls bathed in green and a courtyard built around a pool with beds on floating platforms for post-treatment relaxation.
