A Colombian man wanted for breaking into many houses, including that of Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon, in Bangkok and nearby province has been arrested, police said.
Pol Maj Gen Tanasak Ritdetpaibon, deputy commissioner of Region 4 Provincial Police, said Robert Alexander William, 46, was arrested on a tour bus at a red light in Ban Phai district of Khon Kaen province on Saturday morning.
The man was travelling with a girlfriend on a Bangkok-bound tour bus from Udon Thani.
The Criminal Court issued a warrant on April 26, 2016 for his arrest for breaking into houses in many housing estates in Bangkok and nearby provinces including Chon Buri. One of the burgled house belongs to Gen Prawit.
Pol Maj Gen Tanasak said the man allegedly confessed that he was a member of a gang of four Colombian nationals who committed burglary in many areas, especially during the Songkran Festival of 2016, and made off with more than 2 million baht worth of property.
