Gen Chat-udom said after the 3-trillion-baht Budget Bill was accepted for consideration in the first reading, a 50-member extraordinary committee chaired by Finance Minister Apisak Tantivorawong was set up to scrutinise the bill.
The committee will hold a meeting every Monday and Friday to go through the budget proposals for ministries in charge of economic, social, security and admininistrative affairs, followed by independent agencies.
The committee will see to it that the budget allocations are in line with the 12th National Economic and Social Development Plan, the spokesman said.
Gen Chat-udom said the committee has set to finish with the scrutiny of the bill by Aug 16, before forwarding it to the NLA for the 2nd and 3rd readings on Aug 30.
