Argentina

‘The siren call of South America is hard to shrug off, especially with 2020’s pent-up wanderlust. I giddily await hearing “welcome on board this flight from London to Buenos Aires”, the comforting smiles from the crew and the thrill of soaring over the Atlantic Ocean towards a country whose landscape, traditions and resilient spirit transfixed me three years ago. After tango, mandatory steak at Fervor and a snooze at Be Jardín, I’ll be leaving Buenos Aires for Cordoba’s Estancia Los Potreros, a 600-acre working cattle farm in the magnificent Sierras Chicas. Here, I’ll be galloping with gauchos through hills of wildflowers doused in sunlight and settling in for picnics of homemade empanadas and the leftovers from last night’s asado beside waterfalls while the horses graze. At night, when the estancia’s dogs gather at our feet, red Malbec will be made sexier by candlelight, and a silent, star-studded sky will absorb our thoughts as we stagger home to bed.’
