Every year, we look ahead and name the destinations we’re most excited about for the following months – the cities, islands, countryside corners and sleepy towns that are coming into their own and creating a buzz among those in the know. We ask our team of writers, editors and photographers for the events, hotel openings and cultural highlights that are putting destinations all across the world on the map.
When we put together our list of the best holiday destinations for 2020, we had no idea how much the reality of travelling would change in just a few months. And right now, still in the middle of utter disruption, we can’t say with any certainty where we’ll be heading off to when we can travel safely again – or indeed when that will be. But we really hope that in 2021, we’ll all be travelling again (this is where the team are most excited to go back to when they can). And while the way we travel will have changed, we’ll all still be wanting to find other, to go off-grid and to discover a new part of the world.
