Café des Deux Moulins

It wouldn’t be an Amélie-inspired tour of the City of Light without stopping by the real-life café Audrey Tautou’s character worked in. Found in Paris’ buzzy Montmartre neighbourhood, the hideout still draws in fans of the movie eager to walk in Amélie’s footsteps. It’s a popular café and bistro, especially among tourists heading to the Moulin Rouge for a spectacular show, where live music rings out on weekend evenings and menus feature classics such as gooey croque monsieurs and steak frites.

Amélie’s Apartment

Amélie’s abode can also be found in Montmartre, specifically at 56 Rue des Trois-Frères. Just an eight-minute walk from the aforementioned café, the site, which sits above a small convenience store which also starred in the movie, even has its own place on Google Maps – Appartement d’Amélie Poulain.

Lamarck–Caulaincourt Metro Station

Remember the scene where Amélie assists a blind man? This is Lamarck–Caulaincourt Metro Station, found in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. It ushers Parisians and tourists alike towards the heart of Montmartre, with the likes of the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre and the Musée de Montmartre a short stroll away.

Studio 28

Another place to stop by, for a little longer, perhaps, is Studio 28 – the cinema Amélie visits alone, noticing small details in the movies she’s drawn in by. The real-life venue is Jean-Placide Mauclaire and, according to the website’s ‘about’ section, became a meeting place for the city’s early 20th-century filmmakers and creatives.
