Thai anti-narcotics officers, police and soldiers have seized assets, worth about 31 million baht, in raids on eight locations in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Nonthaburi and Nakhon Nayok provinces, which are allegedly linked to a now closed narcotics trafficking network.

Wichai Chaimongkhon, secretary-general of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), told the media today (Tuesday) that 57 items were confiscated, including three cars, ten land title deeds, including six with houses, nine bank accounts and 29 brand name items.

He said that the recent raids were the result of a follow-up investigation after the arrests of five suspects and seizure of900,000 methamphetamine pills from three cars at road checkpoints in Mae Suai and Pan districts of Chiang Rai province and in Bangkok on March 22nd.

Some of the suspects implicated “Thammathorn”, a resident in Nonthaburi, as being responsible for the delivery of drugs to customers in Bangkok and southern provinces, arranging for transport and the storage of drugs.

Wichai said that the Chiang Rai Provincial Court issued a warrant for the arrest of “Thammathorn” on April 4th, adding that this gang hid the drugs in car wheel arches to avoid detection.
