Where was ‘MobLand’ filmed? Pierce Brosnan takes us behind the scenes of Season 2

On Location peels back the curtain on some of your favourite films, television shows, and more. This time, we ask: where was MobLand filmed?

Warring families, London gangsters, teetering drug empires… There’s nothing quite like a good crime drama, and MobLand is surely one of the best in recent memory. Season one left us on the edge of our seats, and we’ve been (im)patiently waiting to see what will come of the Harrigans and the Da Souzas ever since. Luckily, the second season promises much of the blood, guts and gore of the first – we spoke to Pierce Brosnan about what it was like returning to Conrad Harrigan, and his favourite places to film Season 2 of Mobland.

“When Guy [Ritchie] came to me with this idea two years ago, Helen [Mirren] and I had been working together on The Thursday Murder Club,” Brosnan says. “She said, ‘Do you like it? Are you going to do it?’ I said, ‘Yes, I want to go back to London. I want to be back here in this wonderful city where my career started.’ And she said, ‘Okay, good. Well, if you are doing it, I’ll do it.’ And both of us just jumped right in there. We get on very well together.”

Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren play the husband-and-wife duo of Conrad and Maeve Harrigan. They are both totally ruthless, power-hungry and seemingly incapable of empathy – their sole goal is control, and they don’t care who they manipulate, maim or kill along the way, even within their own family.

“It was wonderful to go back to Conrad,” he continues. “I enjoy playing this character so much. He’s happened at a great time in my life, and to be working with Dame Helen Mirren and this magnificent cast, Tom Hardy and the rest of our company, has been a joy. The writing by Jez Butterworth is so rich and textured and nuanced, and it works on so many different levels. It’s like putting on an old coat, really. There’s something so familiar about it.”
