After two back-to-back trips to Porto and Montenegro, I’m keeping the momentum going with a trip to Canada this month. I’ll be spending a week in Calgary with my family before heading to Switzerland at the end of the month to finally tick another bucket-list destination off my list. So we are – sadly and reluctantly – swapping out the summer wardrobe for my winter one.
Despite being a summer woman at heart, I am trying to embrace the cold in full swing by using it as an excuse to invest in some autumn staples. After last year’s unsuccessful hunt for the perfect wool jacket, I’ve finally found the one that’s calling my name. My Marks & Spencer basket is also full of thermals – think a baby blue long-sleeve fleece top for during the day – which I’ll be layering with my ultimate comfort jeans from Abercrombie & Fitch. For the evening nights, a black wool turtleneck from Cos is my go-to once the temperatures drop, and I’ll be elevating the otherwise simple look with statement jewellery – starting with my favourite mixed metal hoops from Mejuri. However, Switzerland calls for something more chic, so I’ve got my eye on a beautiful white jumper from Sézane.
Back in London, I’m determined to make the most of any remaining sunshine with a visit to Nettle, a new rooftop in the heart of Covent Garden. With an ever-changing menu, I’m hoping the hake croquettes with dill and pickled cucumbers are still on the menu when I arrive. Then in the late evening, you’ll more likely find me tucked into a dimly lit wine bar on a Thursday or Friday night, with Sager + Wilde and The Olfa Club in Walthamstow, both firmly on my list. But, if I’m not at a bar, you’ll find me watching The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City at home.
