Thailand’s labour demand in February this year showed signs of recovery, after a 24.65% increase from the lowest-point average during the first COVID-19 outbreak in April 2020 and the second outbreak in December 2020, according to JobsDB Thailand.

JobsDB also predicted that the increase in the demand for labour will reach 5% by mid-2021, and will reach pre-COVID levels by 2022, if there is no new outbreak.

As for vacancies in each job category, during the first quarter of this year, the greatest demand is in sales, customer service and business development positions, followed by IT and engineering.

Marketing and PR saw the most positive signs of recovery in the first quarter of this year, compared to the second-half of last year, followed by logistics and manufacturing.

COVID-19 also resulted in new job categories, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) developers, Blockchain and cryptocurrency advisors, experts in business transformation and growth officers.

Online job postings in Southeast Asian countries, such as in Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand, have, however, decreased, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the numbers improved slightly in February this year.
