COVID-19 infections, since the outbreak of the third wave in April, have crossed the 100,000 line to 100,637 today, with 3,382 new cases and 17 more deaths being logged, according to the CCSA.
Of today’s new infections, 2,917 are locally-transmitted cases, 1,325 are among those under observation and treatment, 460 are inmates and five are foreign arrivals in quarantine.
44,189 are still being treated in hospitals, including 18,615 in general hospitals and 25,574 in field hospitals. 1,210 are severe cases and 412 are on ventilators.
Of the fatalities today, 15 are in Bangkok and 1 each in Chiang Mai and Songkhla.
Bangkok recorded 983 new cases today, bringing the total infections since April 1st to 33,745.
Illegal crossings from neighbouring countries are still rampant, with 241 illegal immigrants arrested since yesterday, said the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) Spokesman Taweesin Visanuyothin, adding that security forces have been instructed by the CCSA to step up border patrols, including the use of drones, to intercept people attempting to cross the border illegally.
