Stargazers will be treated to a spectacular display from the Geminid meteor shower through the night of Sunday December 13th.
The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) said, in its Facebook post today, that under perfect conditions, people across the country will be able to see as many as 150 meteors, or shooting stars, streaking through the sky every hour with the naked eye.
The Geminid meteor shower, the best meteor display of the year, normally occurs between December 4th and 17th every year, when the Earth passes through a massive trail of dusty debris left by a huge rock, called 3200 Phaethon, with peak activity on December 13th this year.
The best way to watch the meteor shower is to lie on the ground,in an area with as little ambient light as possible, as the shooting stars crisscross the sky, according to the NARIT.
