Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Gen Surasak Karnjanarat on Friday (April 27) dismissed claim by Italian-Thai Development Plc (ITD) president Premchai Karnasuta that he had received sympathy from several governmental agencies and their officials.
“Who and which unit of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment showed sympathy and gave moral support to Premchai? Not possible as we are against those who destroyed natural resources. (I) believe there are no officials who gave him (Premchai) moral support,” said the minister.
Mr Premchai reportedly told a meeting of ITD shareholders on Thursday that he didn’t kill wild animals at Thungyai Naresuan wildlife sanctuary in February. He also claimed that he had the sympathy and moral support of several government officials.
Meanwhile, Seub Nakhasathien Foundation chairman Sasin Chalermlarp suggested Mr Premchai to rethink and to turn a new leaf by contributing toward wildlife conservation.
In his post in his Facebook page, Mr Sasin said he wondered whether Mr Premchai had a real friend who has good intention for him and who tried to make the latter to be aware of his misdeed and to turn a new leaf.
He added he wondered whether the ITD boss had ever been surrounded by people do not expect money or vested interest from him.
