Fire cause at least B100m damage to insulator factory in Samut Prakan

A huge fire broke out at a major heat insulator factory of Miccell Co Ltd in Samut Prakarn causing damages estimated at over 100 million baht to the factory and almost 20 automobiles, including a firetruck.

According to police, the fire happened shortly after midnight at the factory which is located on Soi Wat Bangfai off Poochao Samingprai road in Phra Pradaeng district.

About 30 firetrucks were rushed to the scene as the fire was huge and was raging fiercely because of the strong winds during the time.

The fire raged quickly from the factory building to living quarters of employees and parking lots.

About 20 cars and buses, including a firetruck of Samrong Tai Municipality, were  burned and damaged.

Firemen spent more than two hours battling the fire and containing it in limited area as the entire factory building was burnt to the ground.

Initial damages to buildings, cars and machinery were estimated at over 100 million baht.

A factory employee said he saw a flame in the middle of the factory and in seconds it raged quickly to engulf almost the whole factory space.

He ran out and called for help.

Forensic police were at the scene to look into the cause of the fire.
