Two men and a woman were on Sunday night (April 23) arrested with methamphetamine pills and Ice worth about 64 million baht in a raid at a rented room in a housing project in Krathum Baen district of Samut Sakhon by police and soldiers.
The drug suspects were identified as Namchai Sae Tia, 43, Panya Sae Sim, 43, and Ms Chananya Boonlert, 20.
The raid at the National Housing Authority’s Phetkasem 91 housing project followed a tip-off from informers that a rented room was used by drug trafficker as a drug transit place before transportation to the South.
Found inside the room were a large travel luggage and a backpack containing 178,134 meth pills packed in 89 parcels and 23.5 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine or Ice.
Three cars, one pickup truck and a motorcycle belonging to the three suspects were also seized.
Mr Namchai admitted that he took delivery of the drug from a dealer at Muangthong Thani to store at the room before transporting them to the South.
He said he would be paid 6,000 baht for transporting a pack of meths, and 15,000 baht for a kilogramme of Ice.
He entered the drug business after he was unemployed. He said the drug was the fourth shipment before he was arrested.
Police detained him for having Type 1 drug in possession for distribution.
