A man who broadcast live on Facebook the scenes he tortured and threatened to kill his girlfriend was arrested by the police.
The woman whose identity was not known was held captive in a room of a condominium in Nawamin area by her boyfriend who allegedly assaulted her and threatened to cut her fingers as he livestreamed the acts in the social media at about 6pm today (April 22).
The livestreaming prompted a team of Bung Kum police and rescue workers to be rushed to the condominium, but they found the room locked from inside. They did not break open the door to get in for fear that the victim might get killed.
During the hours-long standoff, police tried to talk the man to open the door and to allow a rescue worker to get inside the provide first-aid treatment to the victim.
One rescue worker was later allowed into the room to treat the woman who was found to suffer several cuts, bruises on the face and head wound, but her fingers were intact.
Meanwhile, police continued with their talking to persuade the man to open the door and to allow them in.
Finally, he gave in and opened the room’s door for the police who immediately took him into custody whereas the woman was sent to the hospital for medical treatment.
The man, identified by police as Chaichana Sirichart, 25, was taken to Bung Kum police station for questioning.
Pol Maj-Gen Teerapong Wongratpitak, commander of the Metropolitan Police Division 4, said Mr Chaichana claimed that he hit the woman with a broom after they had a quarrel.
