A 60-year-old Brunei woman drowned while swimming in the sea of Krabi province on Wednesday (April 18).

Mr Worapot Lomlim, chief of Hat Noppharat Thara – Mu Ko Phi Phi national park, said Thursday that the victim, Miss Pg Hjh Jamilah Pg Hj Othman, was among a tour group of Mariam Tour Company.

He said that the victim was swimming in Talay Waek near Boda island when she accidentally drowned.

He added that officials and tour guides plucked her from the sea and gave her CPR before the arrival of an ambulance to have her sent to the provincial hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Brunei Darussalam ambassador to Thailand Mr Haji Ismail bin Haji Abd Manap flew to Krabi and then proceeded to the masjid in Ban Klong Hin, Tambon Sai Thai, to attend a religious ceremony before bringing the victim’s body back to Brunei Darussalam.

The Royal Thai Police’s deputy spokesman Pol Col Krissana Pattanacharoen clarified that the woman was not member of the royal family of Brunei Darussalam as earlier reported.
