Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and his wife paid a visit to Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan at the latter’s house in Lat Phrao area to give him well wishes on the occasion of traditional Thai New Year or Songkran on Monday(Apr 16).
General Prawit opened his house in Lat Phrao Soi 71 to welcome well wishers to offer their well wishes and, at the same time, to receive his blessings.
Besides the prime minister and his wife, the other well wishers included Interior Minister General Anupong Paochinda, Supreme Commander General Tarnchaiyant Srisuwan and many others.
General Prawit was not publicly seen for over a week as he took a long break for an overseas trip reportedly for a heart bypass surgery.
A lone wolf activist, Mr Ekkachai Hongkangwan, who earlier said he would visit General Prawit to offer his well wishes was reported to be detained along with another activist, Chokchai Paibulratchata by police at Hua Mark police station since the morning.
Ekkachai is an outspoken critic against the deputy prime minister over the latter’s luxury wristwatches.
The duo later lodged a complaint with Lat Phrao police against security officials for illegal detention.
