Lone robber turns in to Chumphon police for robber, murder charge at Tesco Lotus Chumphon

A lone robber turned himself in to the police in Chumphon province to face armed robbery and murder charges.

Ronakorn Supamongkollert, 26, surrendered to Pol Lt Gen Sorasak Yenprem, commissioner of the Provincial Police Region 8, after he was wanted for killing a woman shopper, Mrs Tasanee Chaisri, 56, and snatching her  handbag and gold necklace while she was at the toilet of Tesco Lotus Chumphon on the night of April 11.

Ronakorn admitted to assaulting the woman with knife when she resisted and screamed for help.

He said he had no intention to kill her but just wanted her money.

He said he followed her into the toilet after  noticing her wearing gold necklace and carrying handbag.

He said he planned the robbery just to pay for debt resulted from  soccer bet.

The police said the robber had a criminal record for murder when he was 16.

Following the armed robberies at Tesco Lotus  Chumphon twice which two victims were killed, the police have asked the firm to step up security measures and install more safety devices to ensure safe shopping.
