Chumphon provincial police are hunting for two men in a pickup truck who allegedly shot at a woman and two children on a motorcycle in Sawi district on Friday (March 23).
The incident took place on a local road near Huay Thap Than school in Tambon Khao Thalu at about midnight.
According to the police, Mrs Premita Ditdet was riding a motorcycle with her 12-year-old daughter and Mrs Uthai Jaiyen was riding another motorcycle with her 7-year-old son on the pillion.
The four were on their way home from a party at the school.
As they riding off for a few kilometres on a village road, the pickup truck in front of them stopped, and one man sitting on the left came out holding a handgun.
He walked toward the four and fired at them. Mrs Premita, her daughter and the boy were seriously injured, while Mrs Uthai left unhurt.
Passers-by later brought them to hospital.
Police said it was possible that the gun attack might be caused by misunderstanding.
People in the truck might mistook the motorcycle as their business foes trying to follow them.
Police also looking into the possibility that the men and the two women might engaged in a conflict at the school party.
Police sad they were searching for the two men on the pickup truck.
