Suradech “Joey” Kornngulueamchot, the oldest member of Thai pop band “Bazoo”, has been sent to Klong Prem Central Prison to undergo drug rehabilitation after he was arrested by narcotics suppression police for alleged drug abuse.
Mr Suradech, alias “Joey Bazoo”, was apprehended at an apartment room in Lat Phrao area on Thursday night (March 22).
Police found “Ice” or crystal methamphetamine and smoking tool in his room.
The 49-year-old singer was later taken to Chokchai police station for detention.
Joey admitted to smoking crystal meth saying it was his first time use of drug.
Chokchai police on Saturday morning (March 24) escorted him to the Bangkok North Municipal Court with request to the court that he be remanded to Klong Prem Central Prison’s Zone 13 for drug rehabilitation process.
The court approved the police’s request.
Joey was born to an American father and a Thai mother. He lived with his grandmother in Udon Thani when he was young.
At sixteen he started singing in hotels and restaurants and later entered the entertainment business. He is a co-founder of Bazoo band.
