Thai-Cambodian GBC agrees to upgrade 4 temporary border crossings

The Thai-Cambodian General Border Committee (GBC) has agreed to upgrade four temporary border crossings between the two countries into permanent ones, starting with the one at Khao Din in Sa Kaeo province oppoisite Cambodia’s Battambang province.

Thailand hosted the 13th Thai-Cambodian GBC in Bangkok, with Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Tea Banh co-chairing the meeting. 

Besides the temporary border crossing in Sa Kaeo, the other three to be upgraded as permanent border crossings are in Ubon Ratchathani, Trat and Buri Ram provinces.

The GBC also agreed to increase cooperation in joint training of public disaster prevention and mitigation in border areas and reaffirmed their declared intention not to raise border problem in a way that will affect the good neighbourly relations between the two countries.

Tea Banh also made a courtesy call on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha at the Government House during which they emphasized cooperation to maintain good bilateral relations which is said to be at the highest level ever.
