A group of residents and business operators in Phimai district on Tuesday (Mar 20) lodged a petition with Nakhon Ratchasima governor Wichien Chantharanothai seeking his help to talk with the Fine Arts Department over its declaration of Phimai ruins and its surrounding area covering 2,600 rai of land as historical park.
The petitioners claimed that the zoning of the historical park had seriously affected their livelihood because it encompassed their residential and commercial areas.
They also complained that the zoning had caused the price of their land to drop and discouraged new investment.
Having received the petition, Governor Wichien said he would write to the Fine Arts Department asking for officials to be sent to Phimai district to explain to the people there about the zoning and the historical park.
