The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation today (March 9) reported that summer storms have ravaged 24 provinces causing damages to 1,293 houses with one casualty.
Director-general of the department Chayapol Thitisakdi said summer storms during March 5-8 have wreaked havoc to 189 villages in 57 districts of 24 provinces in the North, Northeast, Central Region, East and South.
He said of the 24 provinces hit by summer storms, four were in the North, 14 in the Northeast, two in the Central, two in the East, and two in the South.
One villager was killed by lightning strike in Chacheongsao’s Tha Takiab district.
Mr Chayapol said the department was coordinating with local authorities and soldiers to distribute primary assistance to the affected people.
The aids included daily necessary goods, roof tiles, and construction materials.
