Thailand national football team coach Milovan Rajevac has announced the list of his 23-member team to defend its championship title at the 46th King’s Cup tournament which is due to kick off on March 22 at Rajamangala stadium at 7.30 pm.
The Thai national football squad comprises mostly old faces who used to be trained by the Serbian coach with just one new face, Chinnapat Lee-or, who was upgraded from the under-23 national football team.
Among the old faces named by Rajevac for the King’s Cup team are Sirote Chatthong, Pokklaw Anan, Thitipan Puangchan and the key players who are now playing with foreign soccer clubs namely Teerasil Dangda, Theerathon Bunmathan, Chanathip Songkrasin and Kawin Thamsatchanan.
The Serbian coach explained that the reason he chose mostly old faces because there was little time for preparations and it would not take too much time for them to adjust themselves because they used to play together before.
While admitting that the games would be tough because the contesting teams are world-ranking teams, he said his squad would try their best to retain the title.
Besides Thailand, the other three participating teams are from Slovakia which ranks 28th in the world, the United Arab Emirates team which ranks 76th and the team from Gabon, the 95th ranking.
