The Sueb Nakhasathien Foundation will demand the replacement of the police team handling the investigation of the illegal hunting case against Premchai Karnasuta if he is not indicted within March 26.

The foundation chairman Mr Sasin Chalermlarb said Monday that he felt there had been little progress in the police investigation of the case after one month since the illegal hunting took place in Thung Yai Naresuan wildlife sanctuary.

Hence, he said he and foundation members would seek an appointment with the national police chief, Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda, to demand the replacement of the police team investigating the case, noting that the case is not complicated and it should not take too much time to wrap up the case for indictment.

Sasin warned that there would be a public backlash if the charges of illegal hunting and intentional killing of wildlife species, especially the black leopard, were dropped against the Italian-Thai Development Plc boss.

The foundation on Monday issued a statement calling on the police handling the case to accelerate their investigation so that it could be wrapped up for indictment much quicker.

The foundation also called on the government, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plants Conservation to closely follow up the progress of the case and to make sure that the case file is water right.

Meanwhile, a graffiti of a black leopard re-emerged on a concrete wall in Sukhumvit Soi 58 on Monday after the same graffiti was erased from the wall on Saturday night by unidentified people.

The black leopard graffiti is believed to be part of a campaign launched by pro-wildlife movement to make sure that justice is done and the perpetrators of the slaughter of the black leopard are brought for trial.
