An obstetrician at a state hospital in Hua Hin district of Prachuap Khiri Khan has turned herself in to police after the court has issued her arrest warrant for illegal operation of abortion service at her own clinic.

Dr Srisamai Chuachart, a C9 obstetrician at a state hospital in Hua Hin district and an owner of Srisamai Clinic in Hua Hin town, turned herself in to police to acknowledge charge of illegal abortion with consent from pregnant women.

Pol Col Sitthichai Srisophacharoenrat, superintendent of Hua Hin police station, said the obstetrician  came with her lawyer to acknowledge the charge on Wednesday (Feb 28) following the issuance of arrest warrant by the Hua Hin Provincial Court on Tuesday.

Dr Srisamai, a former hospital director in Sam Roi Yot district of Prachuap Khiri Khan, gave a non-committal statement over the charge and was later granted release by the police after she used her C9 civil service rank as bail.

Before the issuance of arrest warrant for the C9 obstetrician, police have arrested a male employee of her clinic after he was confirmed to be a person in a video clip carrying  a garbage bag out of the clinic and riding in a motorcycle from the clinic to an unknown destination shortly before the four aborted fetuses were found by a garbage collector on Feb 13.

He later confessed to have dumped  four aborted fetuses in a dust bin in front of  a 7-Eleven convenience store in Hua Hin.
