Lion Fight 40

Foxwoods Resort Casino – Mashantucket, CT

Main Card

Main Event: (c) Chip “The Surgeon” Moraza-Pollard (6-0) vs. Slava “Scarface” Alexeichik (30-8) – Cruiserweight World Title

Chip the Champ has proved to be an unstoppable force since casting aside his mixed martial arts career and solely focusing on his Muay Thai skills.

Moraza-Pollard put in an outstanding performance to claim the vacant crown with his win over Paul Banasiak that included a spectacular head-kick near-finish in the dying seconds of the bout. He then added to his trophy case by thoroughly beating the previously unbeaten Jordan Smith to claim the MTGP title in England this past November.

Alexeichik will certainly provide a stiff challenge. The Siberia-born, New Zealand-raised fighter has won a handful of titles in his home region including a King in the Ring tournament most recently.

Co-Main Event: “Mr. Lightning” Lerdsila PhuketTopTeam (194-31-5) vs. Alexi “Phet” Serepisos (40-10) – Lightweight World Title

Lerdsila has endeared himself to fans around the world with an infectious smile and outgoing personality. He’s also littered the ring with fallen foes as he closes in on 200 career wins. The legendary Thai is on a tear, though he is perhaps best known for an incredible 100-fight winning streak during his incredible career.

Serepisos, however, is no pushover. In fact, Lerdsila touted the New Zealander as one of the toughest opponents he’s faced in some time. Serepisos is coming off a four-man tournament win in Hong Kong.

Brett Hlavacek (18-5) vs. Elijah “Mr. Mayor” Clarke (7-1) – North American Light Heavyweight Title

Lion Fight debuts a new level of championships with the very first North American title fight pitting rival New York fighters against each other. Hlavacek, who is moving down from cruiserweight, and Clarke were both victorious at Lion Fight 38 with decision victories. This will be a rematch between the duo with Hlavacek coming out on top in their first collision two years ago.

Steve “Put Em To Sleep” Walker (2-0) vs. Cole Fetzner (1-0) – Super Cruiserweight

With two highlight-reel knockouts to his credit, Walker goes looking for another impressive win. The Boston product finished Lewis Rumsey with a flurry of head kicks, punches and elbows in the first round and then chopped down Robert Morrow and finished that battle with a crushing right hand. Fetzner, who hails from Ottawa, Canada, has upset on his mind and isn’t the least bit intimidated by his opponent’s past results.

Cris “Golden Leg” Mims (1-0) vs. PJ Sweda (2-2) – Middleweight

Mims, who fights out of Foley, Alabama, had a stellar organizational debut when he scored a second-round knockout via spinning elbow against local fan favorite Brian Bogue. Philadelphia native Sweda has bounced between wins and losses with his latest outing being a hard-fought TKO loss to Eddie Abasolo.

“The Don” Julio Pena (4-1) vs. Isaac Tijerina (1-1) – Lightweight

After a lengthy layoff due to injury, Suffolk County deputy sheriff Pena gets back inside the Lion Fight ring aiming to build on his array of heart-pounding victories. Tijerina has been waiting in the wings for Pena’s return and the Idaho product is looking to score a major upset.

Prelims

Three pro prelims highlight the Lion Fight 40 undercard. In a lightweight tussle, Mike Triana (1-0) of Worcester, MA, looks to take another step in his blossoming career as he meets Johncy Lindor (2-1) of Hollywood, FL. Local fan favorite Brian Bogue, who fights out of Cranston, RI, goes in search of his first pro win as he meets pro debut Canadian Cody Laskar in a super middleweight bout. The other pro prelim sees another popular local figure, Tom Evans of Providence, RI, aim for his first win as he faces Johnny Adams of Rutland, VT.

A trio of amateur prelims is also set for Lion Fight 40: middleweight Aaron Ortiz of Worcester, MA, facing Boston’s Connor Fenton; middleweight Shaun Shubert of Holbrook, MA, up against Boston’s Jurrell Laronal; and light heavyweight Ross Levine of Westerly, RI, taking on Boston’s J. Lucky Henry.
