Passengers flying to Phuket tomorrow (Tuesday) have been warned that they may encounter inconveniences caused by late arrivals or flight delays due to repairs of cracks at a corner of a runway.
Workers started repairing the cracks on the runway from 2 am to 7 am on Monday and they will resume work again on Tuesday from 2 am to 7 am when the repairs are expected to be completed.
The airport was, however, not closed on Monday and will remain open on Tuesday. But flights departing and arriving at the airport are expected to be affected.
According to Airports of Thailand, a total of 64 flights use the Phuket airport on Tuesday, with 32 flights leaving the airport and 32 incoming flights.
In case of inconvenience caused to passengers, AOT has arranged for bottled water to be distributed to waiting passengers free of charge at the 3rd and 4th floors of the terminals for international flights.
Also, buses have been put on stand by to transport passengers to the inner city or to nearby airports.
The provincial immigration office said it had put on duty 25 immigration officers to speed up the immigration process for passengers.
