The National Weather Service has issued warnings for severe weather that’s expected to impact parts of the Las Vegas Valley on Tuesday.
According to NWS forecasters, a thunderstorm that formed over Black Mountain is “expanding westward and will kick off strong, gusty winds in addition to frequent lightning.”
The weather advisories issued by NWS on Tuesday include severe thunderstorm warnings for different parts of Clark County and a flash flood warning.
Flash flood warning
The flash flood warning, issued at 2:11 p.m., includes Henderson, Anthem, Southern Highlands and Sloan. Hazards expected in those areas include heavy rain, flash flooding and wind gusts of 40+ mph.
“Do not attempt to cross flooded roadways,” the NWS warned. “Turn around, don’t drown.”

Clark County shared a few reminders for locals and visitors who encounter flooded roadways in Las Vegas.
Don’t allow children or pets to play in or near floodwaters. Avoid walking or driving through flooded roads or around barricades. Remember, water always wins. Fast-moving water, even only a few inches deep, can sweep people off their feet or sweep a vehicle away.Severe thunderstorm warnings
As of 3:10 p.m., the NWS issued a severe thunderstorm warning that includes Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas and the Strip. Hazards expected in those areas include winds up to 60 mph, large hail and heavy rain. That warning is in effect until 4 p.m.
As of 3:40 p.m., a separate severe thunderstorm warning had been issued for areas around Mt. Charleston, including Rainbow Canyon, Mahogany Grove Campground and Kyle Canyon Campground. Forecasters projected those areas could see 50 mph winds, large hail and heavy rain. This warning is in effect until 4:15 p.m.
